RTI-11 Zero Increase Of Hospital Beds In Delhi by AAP government
The AAP had promised to add 30,000 hospital beds in its 2015 Manifesto, however, the two distinct RTIs attached below show that the AAP failed to even get close. According to RTI-11 (i), on 05th May 2016, there were 10820 beds, while RTI-11 (ii) as on 30th June 2021 states there were 10993 beds in Delhi government hospitals. Only 173 beds have been added in the government hospitals since 2015 to 2021. The fact that AAP was able to add only 173 beds in five years shows how the Kejriwal-led AAP neglected to upgrade the existing health infrastructure, which heavily cost the residents of Delhi during the second wave of the pandemic.
Photos Of Hospital Sites Which Are Not Yet Built Even After Commitment And Allocation Of Land
The AAP government’s mismanagement of Delhi’s healthcare sector resulted in grievous consequences for the citizens of Delhi during the second wave of the pandemic. The AAP government failed to add a single hospital in six years. Hospitals commissioned years ago were not built. While the AAP had promised to add 30,000 hospital beds in 2015, RTIs reveal that it added only 173 beds after six years.
As a result, the city recorded one of the highest Covid death tolls in the country, including the highest number of doctor deaths. To add salt to the wound, while the AAP government announced a compensation of ₹1 Crore for the families of fallen Covid warriors, as of August 2021, only 17 families received compensation. In short, out of all of the AAP government’s failures, its failure in healthcare is the most unforgivable.
